Here’s the third instalment of my Spring/Summer 2012 tutorials! This look is really versatile – it can go from a perfect day look to something you could wear out with a splash of bright lipstick. For you ladies who like your winged eyeliner this is definitely a look for you!
It’s also very simple like the contoured look I did previously, so it’s great if you’re in a hurry. The slick of eyeliner in the outer corner of the lid gives the appearance of fuller lashes whilst the minimal makeup in the rest of the face gives it a really clean and fresh feel – just what you want in a spring look.
Start by applying your usual base, foundation and concealer. Make sure they are really buffed into the skin but don’t go overboard either, you don’t want your foundation to look really heavy with this look. As you can see in the photo above, the model is wearing a really delicate pink colour in the contour of the cheeks. I’d recommend using a creme blush for this as you can blend it a lot easier and it gives a more dewy look. I used Illamasqua Cream Blush in Promise.
Now it’s time for the eyes! I just used a powder eyeshadow a little bit lighter than my natural skin tone all over the lid first of all. Then for the tiny wing on the outer corner I took Illamasqua Eyeliner Cake in Mislead, mixed with some sealing gel, on an angled eyeliner brush. Using an angled brush you can easily create a tiny flick with the flat edge and then fill this in connecting it to the rest. Only do the outer corner, and start smaller than you want it to be so that any mistakes are easily taken care of.
To finish off the eye I used Illamasqua Masquara in Raven on the top lashes only, focusing especially on the outer lashes. I also put a tiny bit of dark brown eyeshadow along the lower lash line.
I just finished the look off by patting MAC’s Candy Yum Yum Lipstick into my lips along with Illamasqua’s Promise over the top to mute the colour. For everyone who’s not seen Candy Yum Yum, it’s fluorescent pink! Not the look I’m going for here so go sparingly on it.
All done! If you wanted to you could wear a pale pink gloss over the lip colours I’ve used here, but personally I love the pale pink matte finish now I’ve tried it out.
