Illamasqua Unnatural Nail Varnish Review

This is the other free nail varnish I got when I visited Illamasqua recently. It’s a massive contrast to the other colour, Wink, that I chose and reviewed here. Wink is more of a Spring colour with it being a pastel shade, Unnatural is definitely a Winter colour – it reminds me of mulled wine!

Unlike Wink, you can buy Unnatural individually and it costs £13.50, pretty good for the size of the nail varnish. With this colour, you need to apply quite a few coats, probably three or more to get it opaque and even, but it’s worth it to get the really rich reddy brown when it’s dried. Like the other Illamasqua nail varnishes I’ve got, Unnatural has a really glossy finish when it’s dried which I really like about them.

I really love this colour, it’s very flattering and looks really classy! Although it’s not a Spring colour, Unnatural is definitely a gorgeous addition to any nail varnish collection and is the perfect colour for Winter. The only thing the puts me off a little bit with this colour is that any slight chip in the varnish shows with it being so dark, but a good topcoat can prevent it chipping too much.

It is the type of colour that would probably suit a matte topcoat, so if you didn’t want to wear it super glossy as it comes, you could vary how it looks. For a budget topcoat I’d recommend Rimmel Pro Matte Topcoat. It gives a great, lasting finish and doesn’t break the bank at only £4.59!

Also, if you’re wanting to try this colour out, but don’t want to pay £13.50 in case you don’t like it, a good match is Barry M Nail Paint in Red Black, it’s got the same brown tone to it as Unnatural and only costs £3.99!
