As with every makeup product I use daily, I find a foundation I like and I stick to it until my skin decides for some weird reason that they no longer get along. When Lancôme sent me their Teint Idole Stick Foundation* I wasn’t really looking for a new foundation, but I was eager to try a stick foundation because I’ve never thought of buying one for myself.
This new addition to the Teint Idole range comes in 20 shades and costs £25.50. It’s also oil and fragrance free making it ideal for oilier skin types and sensitive skin, and it’s got SPF 15.
So far so good – I like my base products to contain SPF and be fragrance free – now on to what Lancôme has to say about their new foundation sticks. On the handout that came with these Lancôme claim the Teint Idole Foundation Sticks have a satiny finish and natural matte look, unbelievable lightness with maximum coverage and that they’re designed for touch ups on the go.
As far as the ‘designed for touch ups on the go’ claim, I’d say they are. The components are lightweight and compact so you can keep them in your bag for a quick touch up if you need to. I put these in my bag when I go to work because I always need to apply more product around my jawline and chin (I really need to stop touching my face, anyone else do this when they’re concentrating?).
Below are swatches of Beige Lin and Beige Cannelle. I mix both in different parts to get the shade I’m after depending on my tan.
The finish lives up to the hand out description too. The Teint Idole Foundation Sticks* blend out easily with a beauty blender and set to a semi matte finish that lasts a good couple of hours before you’d need to powder or blot any oils that develop during the day. This is the sort of finish that works really well if your skin is oily like mine, but maybe not so much if you’ve got dry patches.
As someone who is used to wearing full coverage foundations that you can feel on your skin, this one feels so light that I don’t really feel like I’m wearing foundation at all. As you can see from the photos above. it evened out my skin tone including covering some of the blemishes I’ve got at the minutes and covered some of the darkness around my eyes. It’s also really easy to build if you need any extra coverage.
The SPF in most foundations means they look lighter under my artificial lights rather than if I took the photos in natural light. I used the lighter shade in the centre of my face with the darker shade around the edges.
My final verdict? I’ve been using these for over a week now and I’m pleasantly surprised! The stick format makes these really quick to apply and the formula is easy to blend with a full coverage, without needing to use loads of product. They last well during the day without needing to touch up too often. The only thing that’s needed if you’ve got oily skin is powder or blotting paper to take away any shine after a few hours.
The Lancôme Teint Idole Foundation Sticks* are £25.50 for 9g product, available on Lancôme’s website and in stores.
