Emma Stone Independent Spirit Awards Look

There are so many beautiful makeup looks around at the minute with fashion weeks and awards ceremonies taking place around the world. This started off as a Taylor Swift Grammys look – which is very similar – but I love Emma’s style. Plus she’s a fellow redhead!

The look Emma wore to the Independent Spirit Awards really caught my eye. I love how her makeup artist adds a touch of colour to a lot of her looks. I don’t usually play with blues either, and it’s always good to try new things.

Keep reading for a full step by step tutorial. Skip to the bottom of this post for a pictorial on the eye look.

1. Prime the eyelid, then apply Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment as a base all over the lid. Set with Illamasqua eyeshadow in Vision (pale peach) to make it easier to blend darker colours on top.

2. Use a liner brush and a black eyeshadow – here I used Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Corrupt – to define the lashes. Blend this out with Illamasqua eyeshadow in Faint.

3. Blend an orange shadow into the outer corner and crease. I used Sugarpill Flamepoint eyeshadow then Illamasqua eyeshadow in Vapour and Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie as transition shades. Run a matte grey shadow along the lower lashes.

4. Blend a matte blue over the top.

5. Run an eye pencil the in the same blue colour along the lower lashes and waterline. Blend this out with the grey eyeshadow. This blue pencil is a duo ended one from Topshop.

6. Over the top of this apply a darker metallic blue cream shadow to add depth to the look. I used Resolute Liquid Metal by Illamasqua that’s discontinued, but Kryolan have a very similar shade.

7. Finish off the rest of your makeup then apply mascara and tightline. Saving your mascara until last stops powders sticking to your lashes and makes sure they’re as black and defined as can be!

Here’s the whole look in daylight too. Instead of sloth and Pusheen you’ve got Matt who kicked me off his desk.
