OCC recently launched their A/W 2016 collection and I couldn’t resist picking up some glitters. I’ve never bought glitter from OCC but I’m expanding my glitter horizons (actually buying and using some in looks) and I added these two to my basket pretty much straight away.
The two shades I bought are Olive and Neon Yellow. One you’d expect in a winter collection, the other you totally wouldn’t. These are microfine glitters, so you can use a proper glitter adhesive with them, or still get a good look with something like Illamasqua Sealing Gel (like I did in my Medusa look).
Olive has some gold flecks in it that stop it from being a fairly flat looking metallic shade when you apply it to your lids. I noticed that Neon Yellow has some turquoise and green in there too. Both are beautiful and I can’t wait to use them in more looks!
Kat Von D Beauty recently launched on Debenhams here in the UK and of course, we lost our minds a bit. No more paying stupid shipping and customs costs, or waiting until you or one of your family members goes on holiday to the US to give them a shopping list. It’s here and you can get it click and collect to pick up the next day.
So here’s what I bought and a quick first impression of it all.
Before anything else, huge thank you to Debenhams customer service who rang me up to let me know the product codes were mixed up online, and that they shipped me the correct lipstick and that I could keep the one that was the wrong shade. Definitely won me over there!
My original order was for the Tattoo Liner in Trooper and Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in Outlaw and Beloved. I was sent LUV by mistake with my first order. You also get a mini Tattoo Liner in the sample box.
I was really surprised by how reasonable the prices were for all the products – especially these liquid lipsticks. There is a good range of colours on the site, although some haven’t come over with the UK launch yet. I’d also recommend looking up reviews and swatches of the ones you’re interested in to get a good idea of the colour.
The packaging is so lovely and detailed. I believe that the designs are actually done by Kat herself too? Either way, they’re a really nice touch. The wand took some getting used to as it’s reaaaaally long, but the doe foot and the formula allow you to create a really precise lip line without the need for a liner.
These liquid lipsticks don’t bleed, they layer really well without bunching or crumbling off and the way they fade is pretty even too so you can go a few hours without needing to touch up. The also dry down completely matte without any stickiness and when they’re dry, they feel light on your lips and don’t transfer at all. Definitely worth the £16!
The last time I used a liner like this it ended in disaster. I was worried this would be the same with the swatch I’ve got of it, but luckily that was just because I was impatient and didn’t let the liner saturate the brush fully.
This eyeliner has a proper brush tip rather than a felt tip, so you can get a really precise, fine line with it. It’s super black so it doesn’t need to be layered. If you like a matte liner, this one might not be for you, as it does have a shiny finish.
Once it’s on and dry, it lasts all day without cracking or dropping down.
Head up UK readers – John Lewis now sell Marc Jacobs Beauty products! I’m not sure if there’ll be counters or anything in store as far as I know, but it is available online and you can Click and Collect to pick it up from your local John Lewis or Waitrose the following day. Yasssss.
In all of a few seconds after receiving the email that it was available, I was on John Lewis with my card at the ready to do some damage. I picked up the Marc Jacobs Air Blush in 500 Lush and Libido and the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara.
Today I’m back talking about one of my favourite skincare brands – La Roche Posay. I still stick to the 3 step system that I reviewed a while back, and have converted my family and friends to the ways of the French pharmacy brand.
La Roche Posay have recently added to the Effaclar line with a tinted version of the cult classic Effaclar Duo [+]. Basically, this product has all the skin care benefits of the Effaclar Duo [+] but with added coverage like a tinted moisturiser.

When I said I was falling for NYX products, I wasn’t kidding. Over the past two weeks I’ve been to three different counters and bought more than what I’m sharing in this post, but I thought I’d just show you my very favourites that I’ve been using the most.
I’ve made a promise to myself to buy more glitter to use in makeup looks. This one hasn’t featured yet because I’ve still been getting to grips with the texture.
It’s unlike LIT Glitter and doesn’t work as well with Illamasqua Sealing Gel. That said, with the NYX Glitter Glue it works a charm. Once it’s on, the NYX Glitter doesn’t fall off or get chunky while you’re wearing it.
The NYX Liquid Lipsticks are a great find. I think the Lip Lingerie range will have dupes for a few Jeffree Star and Kylie Lip Kit shades for sure if you’re looking for alternatives that are easy to get hold of here and without the price tag.
The quality of these is definitely comparable to higher end brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills and Jeffree Star. They dry down really matte, not sticky at all and pretty true to colour from the tube. And because the lip liners come in most nude shades imaginable you can create your own lip kit for under twenty quid.
I really like the doe foot on thee too – it’s perfect if you’ve got thinner lips and if you’re out an about to get a fairly clean application without a liner.
Rosie (familyg0rterait on Instagram if you wanna check out her work) has been telling me for ages that I need this eyeshadow, and after seeing Viola use it in her most recent YouTube video I went and picked this up. It’s a bit like Brimstone but reflect pigment is much finer and has a slight gold duo chrome to it. An unusual shade and great value at just a fiver.
Would you try any of these products? What’s your favourite product from NYX?
